Cross-Choral Training Vocal Pedagogy Workshop
Join the Cross-Choral Training® learning community for an interactive, rehearsal-centered workshop for choral educators. Designed for both veteran teachers and new teaching artists, this session provides an accessible entry point into Cross-Choral Training and its application in real classroom and ensemble settings.
In this immersive Cross-Choral Training workshop, renowned educator Dianne Berkun Menaker guides choral educators through a practical approach to understanding vocal function and applied pedagogy in rehearsal. Participants learn how to develop the primary systems of the singing voice—breath management, laryngeal registration, and resonance—in service of healthy, flexible, and confident ensemble singing across musical styles.
Through interactive discussions and rehearsal-based demonstrations with singers from the Grammy Award–winning Brooklyn Youth Chorus, educators explore new approaches to teaching and learning, with particular attention to the needs of young treble voices.
Participants will learn the Cross-Choral Training approach to:
Applied Vocal Function in the areas of:
Breath Management
Laryngeal Registration
Vowel Sound Resonance
Developing Vocal Exercises
Varying Vocal Adjustments Across Musical Styles
Appropriate for all choral conductors and music educators with a special focus on young treble-voices.
